President and Sister Layton are now President and Matron of the Oquirrh Temple. They kindly tolerated the crashing of their reunion by those of us who served under President Hemingway and were gracious to all of us. We heard from Elder Homer, a senior missionary who served in Palmyra at the start of the Laytons' presidency and then served with his wife at the Willie Handcart Site in Wyoming, who told some faith-promoting stories. The Laytons talked about the similarities between mission service and temple service. The Sites Missionaries turned out in force, which was wonderful. Elder and Sister Taylor from Gilbert, Arizona, were there, along with the Judys from Idaho. Autumn Saxon and her husband, Matt, who were married early in August, came out toGeneral Conference and made it to the reunion! You can see who else I caught on camera. Unfortunately I missed getting pictures of a few people. Sister Stoddard was down from BYU-Idaho, Sister Day and Sister Henschied from Utah State, and the Pinegars (who are preparing to leave to be President and Matron of the Manti Temple very soon) were there, but some had to leave early, some came late, and some I could not get to in the large group of former missionaries. (And the photographers, the Jameses, did not make it in here, either, but we were putting flashes into faces.) If anyone else has pictures of attendees at this grand event, please post them! Greetings go to our far-away people, particularly Sister Nielson in Pennsylvania and Sister Cataluddi in Italy, who can now see some people who miss them.

Love and best wishes to everyone who served in this amazing mission! It was a delight to know you and work together in the Cradle of the Restoration. Greetings to the Westons and all those still serving. We will see you eventually. Aren't missions the best?

  1. Thanks, for such great pictures and the update. We are excited to see all of you once we are in the West as well, but since we are still here enjoying a beautiful Fall we will greatly enjoy it.
